   [Usenet:  common]  Abbreviation  for  "off-topic".  This  is  used to
   respond  to  a  question that is inappropriate for the newsgroup that
   the  questioner  posted  to.  Often used in an HTML-style modifier or
   with adverbs. See also {TAN}.
